Storytime last Friday was all about polar bears. The children listened to the story, The Three Snow Bears, worked on a polar bear craft, and even got to make their own polar bear snack. The picture is of the children with their snacks; it’s amazing how you can make a polar bear face with rice cakes, cottage cheese, raisins, banana circles, and oreo cookies.

New books that have arrived include: Defending Jacob by William Landay (a DA’s son is accused of murder), Private Games by James Patterson (Private is the firm that has been commissioned to provide the security for the London Olympics; then the murders begin..), Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale (a country manor in England provides a vacation spot for an American woman; things begin to turn sinister even with all the Jane Austen experiences), A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemmingway ( for any of you who read “A Paris Wife”, this is Hemmingway’s version of what happened in Paris), Shirley Botsford’s Daddy’s Ties ( contain instructions for making quilts, keepsakes, and other projects out of men’s ties), and Utility Quilting by Carolyn Forster (an easy, stress free way to quickly hand quilt). Our new YA book, My Family For the War by Anne Voorhoeve,(the story of a young girl smuggled out of Germany during the Kindertransport in WWII), is also available for checkout.

Our next book that we will be reading is Killing Lincoln by Bill O’reilly. This is a non-fiction book that goes into detail about the effect the assasination of Abraham Lincoln had on our nation and history, in general. I have started to receive the books from Interlibrary Loan so drop in and check one out. The discussion will be Thursday, April 5, at 7:00 PM. Refreshments will be served. Join us for a lively discussion; hope to see you there.

Library hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12-7; Wednesdays, 12-5; Fridays and Saturdays, 9-2. Library board meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month, at 7 P.M.

Last Friday was Presidents’ Storytime, and we talked about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. We made red, white, stars with pennies in the middle. We ate strawberries that were red, white and blue, too.

New books that have arrived this week: Ameritopia by Mark R. Levin (about the clash between constitutionalism and utopianism, #1 on the best sellers list for non-fiction books), The Devil’s Elixir by Raymond Khoury (large print, FBI gent Sean Reilly and his girlfriend, archaeologist Tess Chaykin, heroes of Raymond Khoury’s bestselling Templar novels, return in another edge-of-your-seat thriller that reaches from present day back to 1700s Mexico), Book of Dreams by Davis Bunn (large print, a psychologist who has studied dreams, gets a new patient with frightening dreams), and The Silver Lotus by Thomas Steinbeck (large print, the story of an American merchant Captain who falls in love with the daughter of a wealthy Cantonese merchant).

New DVD’s include “The Incredible Hulk”, “The Smurfs”, and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”. Come in and check them out!!
